ALICE 4 Impact is the ALICE’s framework for turning logistics innovation into real-world deployment and measurable impact.
It connects emerging trends, policy developments, technologies, research projects, industry needs and market uptake. The aim is to ensure that innovation in logistics moves beyond research results and pilot activities to support practical solutions, better policies, new services and more sustainable supply chains.
Through ALICE 4 Impact, ALICE acts as a neutral intermediary and ecosystem builder, connecting industry, research, public authorities, and innovation actors.
The ALICE 4 Impact framework
ALICE 4 Impact is built around four interconnected layers.
Innovation drivers
Megatrends such as decarbonisation, digitalisation, circularity, automation and resilience define why innovation is needed. These drivers are shaped by regulation, technology development and societal expectations, including CO₂ emission standards, urban access rules, artificial intelligence, electrification, robotics and the Physical Internet.
Innovation layer
This is where ideas are tested, technologies are validated and knowledge is created through EU-funded projects, industry pilots and cross-domain collaboration. ALICE supports both technological and business innovation, as well as science-based insights that can inform policy, standards and investment priorities.

From research to market uptake
Innovation in logistics is not a simple linear process. Market needs, regulation and societal challenges help define priorities, while research projects and industry initiatives generate solutions that can shape future policy, standards and investment.
ALICE 4 Impact connects these two directions. It helps translate industry challenges into research and innovation agendas, while supporting promising results on their path towards deployment.
What ALICE delivers
Through ALICE 4 Impact, we support the logistics innovation ecosystem by:
- developing roadmaps and innovation priorities
- advising European institutions and contributing to policy and funding discussions
- connecting industry, research, public authorities and innovation actors
- supporting projects in moving from results to market readiness
- mapping and disseminating high-potential innovations and use cases
- promoting successful implementations through events and the Logistics Innovation Award
ALICE is also strengthening activities beyond research, including business-focused brokerage, market-oriented collaboration and innovation scale-up. This includes bringing together innovation owners, companies seeking solutions, investors and public innovation finance actors.
Supporting better decisions and stronger impact
For ALICE members and partners, ALICE 4 Impact provides access to knowledge on emerging trends, technologies, legislative developments and market opportunities.
It helps organisations understand barriers to innovation adoption, identify interdependencies across the logistics ecosystem and collaborate with the right partners to scale solutions.
By linking strategy, research, policy and deployment, ALICE 4 Impact helps ensure that logistics innovation delivers value and creates impact for European industry, society and the environment.
